Back to the Keyboard
It’s been a minute since the last post. In reality very little has happened to me regarding artwork. I’m back at the drawing board and going to change gears a little. Its been a few years since I’ve been trying to establish my style, my niche, and I think I reached a point where I can create art that has a very distinctive “flavor” to it. The thing is that I’ve been developing this style mostly in one type of medium, but my idea from the very beginning was to be able to switch first, then mix the mediums without loosing the fundamental characteristics that makes my artwork mine.
About 20 years ago I went from drawing with pencil, to painting with oil, I grabbed my Bob Ross painting kit and started learning landscaping, doing Bob’s and Kinkade’s studies, then due to personal and mostly practical circumstances, I abandoned those for digital art. Soon after, I discovered the joy of ink and it was so fun yet challenging that I decided to make it my main art re-introductory medium. During my learning process I also started using acrylics and in recent years I starting mixing both mediums.
Acrylic has evolved quite a bit, and now there is even acrylic ink, thus I’m going to start painting more than inking, the goal been; becoming a fine artist. The rendering of my artwork has been mainly influenced by illustration techniques, but as I transition to paint, I will start using more superflat and 3d techniques. Changes like this are never easy or smooth, is going to be a transition and an experimental phase that is unavoidable but I hope that the joy I feel with the new challenges translate into my art as a piece of artwork that is fun to see and to have. And for those who have been following my art journey, I wish my new-ish direction will keep pleasing your eyes.
On another topic, Instagram has become very difficult to use, thus I’m also transitioning from socials, I have deleted a lot of my artwork there, will keep just previews and work in progress pics there since their plan is to use AI without compensating anyone for it. There is a new social called Cara, it’s been popular for the last few days, isn’t a replacement for IG but rather a place to network with other fellow artist, something that even on IG is becoming very tedious. But the good news is that there is this blog page and I have some space in my website to put a portfolio or some images. Thus I’m planning on posting more here with the usual pics that once were on IG.
